Beste forumleden,

Onderstaand plaatje kreeg ik van iemand toegestuurd. Een AV44 in de kleur chaudron (koperkleurig).
Vraag is nu in welk land werd deze brommer ingevoerd en rijdt deze brommer rond?
Tip: het is een echt brommerland. Voor de eerste goede inzender ligt een verrassing klaar.
De eigenaar zoekt nog een spuitbus om e.e.a. bij te werken. Heeft iemand soms een actueel kleurnummer, want de nuimmers die op de site van Club Motobécane de France staan zijn verlopen.

De eigenaar is wel een liefhebber van oldtimers. Die bumper is niet echt van een nieuw model.
Iemand ook de achterwielophanging van de 44 bekeken?
En dat kleurnummer zou ik ook wel willen weten.

De chaudron kleur is normaal gesproken een Franse kleur.
Dus Frankrijk.
Ik twijfel wel of deze av44 in die kleur ooit verkocht is.

Voor mijn gevoel zijn er twee mogelijkheden: een
Scandinavisch land of de Verenigde Staten. Ik hou het op het laatste land.

Op de achtergrond afgaand gok ik ook op zweden

Het is Zweden. Cuprinol Traolja V (een van de bussen op de plank) is een typisch hout beschermingsproduct uit Zweden.

Beste forumleden,

Zweden is een echt Bromfietsland en ik heb ook regelmatig contact met Zweden i.v.m. restauraties.
Een gedeelte van de gegevens van de vroegere importeur van mobylettes in Zweden "Belgimex" zit in mijn archief, nadat ik het via eBay had aangekocht.
Ik heb nog amper de tijd genomen om alles eens goed door te lezen. Als er eens op een sombere winterdag een ontmoeting wordt georganiseerd,
dan neem ik die map mee.

Welcome on this forum. The majority of our Dutch and Belgium members understand English, too.
As a matter a fact Mobylette collectors are better educated than the average moped collector.
Whenever I cannot read a language like Vietnamese or Turkish I always use http://www.translategoogle.com and this will translate the topic.
Motobécane is a world marque; on all continents except on the Antarctic you can meet Motobécane's mobylettes of those of license holders.

I was relly stunned to se my Moby on your forum. Well, you are right - I have been looking for a suitable paint to touch up some nicks and dents on it, and it has been difficult to find an equivalent of the "Chaudron" colour, which is the original colour of my AV 44 de Luxe from 1964. But I have found one acceptable - the Chrysler Copperhead Orange. I boght my Moby here in Sweden about a year ago, and it had then been stored for som 30 years in a warm garage, so it was in quite a good shape, but not running. I have done a complete technical refurbishment including bying some spare parts from France and England, and I am now going for the exterior, hence my interest for a source of Chaudron paint. In Sweden the Mobylettes among other French and Belgian motorbikes, scooters and mopeds were imported and distributed by a company named "Belgimex AB". According to a business-understanding between Belgimex AB and another company named "Fram-King Import AB" the latter company was to be the sole distributor in Sweden of the Mobylette-model AV 44, and only that model (maybe also the importer). The Mobylettes were not very common in Sweden, so spare parts are almost impossible to find. I hope that I will have it running in spring to come.Your forum is very nice and informative.

I'm quite familiar with Belgimex, as I bought a substantial part of their archive.
Fram-King Import AB is a new fact for me, thanks.
AV44 spares are still available in France, Belgium and The Netherlands. Besides people all over the world
are restoring and reproducing rare spares. So just ask when you are looking for certain spares.
How difficult was it to read Dutch. I know some words look very much the same, but with help of www.translate.google.com
it should not be too complicated. I use this even when I visit a Vietnamese website.

Zit daar nou een soort heveltje/scharniertje aan de tankdop en de tank bevestigd?

Het ziet eruit als een ijzerdraadje, waarmee de tankdop in de tank gehouden wordt. Veel liefhebbers rijden alleen met mooi weer, zodat hun oldtimer veel langer mooi blijft. En uit ervaring weet ik, dat dat een goeie manier is, om dat te bereiken. Ikzelf rijdt zomer en winter en dat is voor het uiterlijk echt een ramp. Maar ik kan het niet laten. Als je je Moby voor de winter opslaat en de benzine uit de tank haalt, zit de, éérst goed passende benzinedop, in de lente, helemaal los. De kunststof dop zuigt benzinedamp op en zet uit. Na een aantal maanden zonder benzinedamp, zijn alle vluchtige koolwaterstoffen weer uit de dop verdampt en is hij (danig) gekrompen. Op een hobbelige weg, kan hij er uitspringen. Na het vullen van de tank voor weer de eerste lenterit, is dit meestal na een dag of twee weer opgelost. De dop heeft weer damp opgezogen en is weer uitgezet.

Maar als ik nog eens goed naar de foto kijk, denk ik, dat dat niet is, wat je bedoelt. Ik mis ook het witte/grijze dopje van de benzinekraan. En inderdaad lijkt het, alsof er een plaatje zit, dat een heveltje zou kunnen zijn. Geen idee, nooit gezien. Ik ken alleen de trek- en draai-kraantjes.

Na twee dagen niet rijden zit mijn kunststofdop al los. Na een kwartier rijden zit hij weer behoorlijk vast. Ik ben er op gaan letten nadat Joost al eerder dit fenomeen beschreef. Gr. Joop

Hello again Harrie! I manage to understand some written Dutch - have Dutch neighbours at my summerhouse - and there are some similarities between the Dutch and Swedish languages. Fortunately, though, the translation programmes exist. The tank on my Moby obviously has caused some speculations. At the time of purchase of my Moby the knob on the fueltap-rod was replaced with a big soldered on wire terminal and and some odd rubberdetail was fixed to act as a (nonfunctional) gasket. I had to lengthen the rod, as it was mistreated and too short, and fitted an original plastic knob, that I bought fom a web-dealer in France. I had intended to enclose a couple of photos "before" and "after" to enlighten things, but I do´nt know how to do.

There are two ways adding a picture.

The simple method
When adding a new topic or a comment , you will notice two tabs at the bottom of your message or reaction:
"Opties" (options) and "Bijlage toevoegen" (Adding file).
Tab "Bijlage toevoegen" provides the function of direct uploading from your computer to the server of this forum.
File size is limited (256kB). Maximum size is 800 x 800 and you are limited to 5 pictures. An example of this method you can find at the bottom of this message.

The more advanced method
You can add a hyperlink to a file anywhere on the internet.

Example [*bigimg=600]http://www.pantin.nl/mv1.jpg[/bigimg]
Bigimg will show a large image in a scrollable window. Its width is 600 pixels here.

The example is presented here with an asterisk (*) otherwise the image would be shown.

You are not limited to sizes, but you will have to upload your images anywhere on the Internet.
I use several sites for dumping my content. You could use http://tinypic.com/
Tinypic is a free site for sharing images with little irritating advertisements.
